Walter and Mary Barker

Walter and Mary Barker knew the value of planning ahead.  They also knew that children often have the greatest needs and smallest voice in our society.  They worked diligently to combine their concern for children with their ability to make a difference and in so doing they have touched the lives of thousands of children.

Mary joined the Board of Directors in 1900 and served until her death in 1931.  After Walter passed away in 1914, Mary commissioned construction of the building on Knoxville in Walter's memory.  In addition, she made a further commitment to children and families by leaving part of her estate to benefit Children's Home.

Visionaries

The Barkers were visionary in their care for children and their foresight in planning for the needs of kids after they were gone.  Similarly, we need visionaries today who will help plan for the needs of our kids and families in the years ahead.  For those who make such a commitment to our kids, we invite to be a part of the Walter and Mary Barker Society.

The Walter and Mary Barker Society
