ADOPT-A-STREET 2004 KICKS OFF

Peoria, IL—The Adopt-A-Street 2004 Campaign will be kicking off on January 27, 2004 with a mayoral proclamation. The volunteer- and service-focused campaign will last through December of this year.

Individuals from youth groups within the community will be volunteering their time to clean up streets in the Peoria area. This program works to increase community support and recognition of youth volunteerism as well as to increase neighborhood pride among participating youth.

Thus far, the campaign has involved a total of 240 youth from 12 different groups, with 44 adults providing support and supervision. Youth cleaned 5.5 miles of City streets, collecting over 120 bags of litter.
