FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MAUI JIM CHARITY GOLF CLASSIC RAISES $260,000
FOR CENTRAL ILLINOIS CHILDREN
Peoria, IL - Hats off to Maui Jim CEO, Walter Hester, COO Mike
Dalton and their Peoria staff for organizing the 6th Annual Maui
Jim/Children’s Home Charity Golf Classic held July 11 which
raised $260,000 for the Children’s Home, bringing the six year
total to almost $1 million! The proceeds from this event play a
significant role in the agency’s ability to continue helping
children and families of central Illinois.
Again held at the Country Club of Peoria, the day began with
clinics led by PGA Championship Tour pros Dave Stockton, Morris
Hatalsky and Don Pooley followed by a long-drive exhibition by
Art Sellinger. With a shotgun start at noon, the 27 foursomes
participated in the 18-hole golf scramble while enjoying food
and beverages on the golf course provided by the Country Club of
Peoria, Nick & Willy’s, Alexander Street Steakhouse and Sir
Lionel Catering. A new feature to the event this year was an
oxygen & aromatherapy bar by Airheads, Inc. Event participants
were given the opportunity to choose from 12 different
aromatherapy oxygens. A five to ten-minute session with an
oxygen bar displaces harmful free radicals, neutralizes
environmental toxins, and destroys anaerobic infectious
bacteria, parasites and microbes. Oxygen gives the body the
ability to rebuild itself, detoxifies blood, increases
circulation and strengthens the immune system. Oxygen will
heighten concentration, alertness and help fight off depression,
and has also been known to help with relaxation and sleep
disorders, prevent disease, relieve hangovers and alleviate
headaches. Event participants thoroughly enjoyed this addition.
A poolside luau at the Country Club followed the outing
featuring authentic Hawaiin leis and entertainment, a live
auction and prizes awarded for longest putt, closest to the pin,
longest drive, best score (net and gross) and team prizes were
awarded for the first through third place teams. The first place
team was the RLI/Maui Jim foursome of Joe Dondanville of Peoria,
Tim Krueger of Dunlap, Skip Orza of New Jersey and Ed Thomas of
St. Louis; the second place team was the Orthopedic Institute of
Illinois foursome of Jim Maxey of Dunlap, Steve Hippler of
Dunlap, Scot Frankenreider of Peoria and Dan Gruppo of Ohio; and
the third place team was the Great Plains Sports Medicine
foursome of Mark Phillips, Mark McAuliffe, Tim Cassidy and Terry
Cole, all of Peoria.
Children’s Home would like to thank all who helped make this
year’s golf outing an overwhelming success and especially to
Maui Jim for their continued concern and dedication to touching
the lives of kids. MAHALO!!
