JIM CHARITY GOLF CLASSIC RAISES $300,000 FOR CENTRAL ILLINOIS
CHILDREN
Peoria, IL - Hats off to Maui Jim CEO, Walter Hester, COO Mike
Dalton and their Peoria staff for organizing the 7th
Annual Maui Jim/Children’s Home Charity Golf Classic held July
17 which raised $300,000 for the Children’s Home, bringing the
seven year total to over $1 million! The proceeds from this
event play a significant role in the agency’s ability to
continue helping children of central Illinois.
Again held at the Country Club of Peoria, the day
began with clinics led by PGA Championship Tour pros Jim Ahern,
Morris Hatalsky and Don Pooley followed by a long-drive
exhibition by Dan Boever. With a shotgun start at noon, the 27
foursomes participated in the 18-hole golf scramble while
enjoying food and beverages on the golf course provided by the
Country Club of Peoria, Nick & Willy’s, Alexander Street
Steakhouse and Sir Lionel Catering. Golfers were also given the
opportunity to enjoy a 5-10 minute session with aromatherapy
oxygens provided by Airheads, Inc.
A poolside luau at the Country Club followed the
outing featuring authentic Hawaiian leis and entertainment, a
live auction and prizes awarded for longest putt, closest to the
pin, longest drive, best score (net and gross) and team prizes
were awarded for the first through third place teams. The first
place team was the Leisy Brewing Co. foursome of Harry
Puterbaugh, Jim Les and Jim Chambers of Peoria and Tom Hammerton
of Dunlap; the second place team was the O’Brien Automotive
Group foursome of Joe O’Brien, Gary Matern, Scott Young and Rob
Wiley; and the third place team was the Great Plains Sports
Medicine foursome of Mark Phillips, Mark McAuliffe, Jim Krick
and Chuck Buescher all of Peoria.
Tom Hammerton won the First Place Individual Gross,
with Jon Stewart second and Jim Krick third.
The Children’s Home would like to thank all who helped make this
year’s golf outing another overwhelming success and especially
to Maui Jim for their continued concern and dedication to
touching the lives of kids.
