Residential Treatment

 

RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT PROGRAM OVERVIEW  

  
The Residential Treatment Program consists of 3 10-bed living units and one 13-bed unit operating on a therapeutic milieu model. The program provides 24-hour care through an interdisciplinary team for children whose emotional, behavioral, sexual, or social dysfunction requires highly structured care.


 CHARACTERISTICS 


 Typical referring problems are: aggressive behavior; depression and other psychiatric issues; impaired interpersonal relationships; physical, emotional, and/or sexual abuse; environmental deprivation, sexual perpetration; and family dysfunction. The four living units currently focus on:


One unit serves females with an IQ of 70+, ages 9 to 20. 
One unit serves males with an IQ of 50-70, ages 8 to 20, emotional and behavioral issues. 
One unit serves males with an IQ of 55-70 ages 14 to 20, emotional, behavioral issues and sexual perpetration. 
One unit serves males with an IQ of 70+, ages 9 to 18, emotional and behavioral issues. 


SERVICES OFFERED 


 Program services include: individual, group, and family counseling; medical/psychiatric assessment and treatment; activity and educational programming; consulting services (psychological, dietitian and speech pathologist).


 REFERRALS 


 Referrals are accepted from the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), the Illinois State Board of Education, the Department of Human Services (Division of Developmental Disabilities and Individual Care Grant Program), the Department of Corrections, and other agencies, as well as private insurance.


 Submitted referrals will be reviewed by the Referral Review Committee. Written notification of any decision and any additional information needed will be sent to the referring party. Preference is given to internal clients, Peoria and Central regions and then other regions. 


 Referrals are accepted on an emergency basis. 
 If it is necessary to place the youth on a waiting list, regular written or phone contact will be maintained with the referral source regarding openings.
